5 tips for a conscious leisure time:

Our sustainability expert, Marieke, has been working lately on our first Sustainability Report that will be published really really soon, and in the meanwhile, as communication and awereness is one of our key subjects this year, she has put together some inspiring tips for you.

So, for the next time you run out of TV shows, films and books, here we leave a few ideas:

1. THE TRUE COST (Andrew Morgan, 2015)

Our first recommendation is strictly related to the values we pursue in the fashion industry.

“The True cost" is a very interesting documentary that remind us of the importance of sustainability and fairness in the fashion industry.

If you’re interested in how fast fashion is affecting our planet’s health and wellbeing, this is a very good movie to become aware of it.

2. WARDROBE CRISIS (Clare Press)

We strongly recommend Clare Press’ podcast.

Listening to her talk with some big industry leaders is a really interesting way to get to know more about sustainability in the fashion industry.

Available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Stitcher!

Clare Press also wrote two recommended books: "Wardrobe Crisis" and "Rise and Resist". Super inspirational for anyone interested in reading about sustainable fashion.

3. CLIMATE JUSTICE (Mary Robinson)

We could not forget to include in this list a voice we admire: Mary Robinson, once the president of Ireland and first woman to hold this office, and her book “Climate Justice".

In “Climate Justice”, she takes us around the world meeting the women living on the front lines of the environmental crisis, with a direct writing style and a biting yet hopeful discourse.

4. OUR PLANET (Alastair Fothergill, 2019)

We all enjoy looking at the wildlife taking over our streets the past couple of weeks. But this crisis shows us we need to treat them and the planet better. So if you are at home, we have a Netflix tip for you:

Our Planet is a beautiful nature documentary that shows us how incredible our home is, & we thought now was a good time for a reminder: Let’s protect it while we still can!

5. HIDDEN IMPACT (Babette Porcelijn)

It is mesmerizing to see the impact that all our activities have on our planet, specialy when not all of it is visible. According to Babette Porcelijn - author, designer & environmental expert- 90% of the impact that our stuff has on the environment is actually hidden.

That’s why we recommend her book, The Hidden Impact, as she describes it: EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW AND THE THINGS YOU CAN DO TO LIVE AN ECO NEUTRAL LIFESTYLE.

Full of interesting facts, this is highly recommended to anyone interested in what should our choices towards a more sustainable lifestyle be! You can find it on PDF on ThinkBigActNow page.
